A few short civilized centuries after ice
enabled crossing of continental plates, men
built bridges of stone compound (lesser still than gneiss)
attached to steel skeletons; thus, crossovers when
desired could be achieved easily. As time passed,
these engineered spans over divides began to
be mistaken as having advanced, and amassed
as industrial infrastructure blasting through
all natural formations, altering landscape
into faultily manmade - monuments to mirth.
But all epochs begin to fail, reclaimed by drape
of feral tendrils, dragged against will back to Earth,
leaving behind signifying shards of our times,
as Universe balances through refreshed enzymes.
